Welcome to Indigo with Stars, dear tribe of bohemians, free spirits, artists, wanderers, gardeners, nature worshippers, lovers of the planet, and children of the Universe!

I am Alicia Bay Laurel, author, visual artist, singer/songwriter/guitarist and storyteller, a hippie elder who documented the magical, earthy ways of the back-to-nature movement, in my 1970 bestseller, Living on the Earth, which we offer in English, Japanese, Spanish, and French, along with two albums of songs composed while creating the book.

We are also featuring the original 1973 edition, the new 2021 English edition, and the Japanese edition of Being of the Sun, an unguide to creating your own spiritual path, written in 1972 in collaboration with avant-garde composer/post-theist philosopher Ramón Sender Barayón, along with an album of music from the book, composed and performed by Alicia and Ramón in 1973.

We also carry some of my other books, as well as my eight albums (psychedelic folk, world music, blues and jazz, available both as CDs and as downloads) and my naive surrealist art, blending natural and cosmic visions, as images on greeting cards, posters, matted art prints, magnets, t-shirts, coffee mugs, calendars, coloring books, tote bags and t-shirts.

We also sell downloads of the astonishing albums of my partner of the past 27 years, Joe Gallivan, a legendary presence on the avant-jazz music scene - a musician's musician, loved and respected by John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, Eric Dolphy, Gil Evans, Elvin Jones, Larry Young, Frank Zappa, Lennie Bruce, Harry the Hipster, even Igor Stravinsky!  Joe's bio, discography, and videos are at joegallivan.net.

In 2023 we released a vinyl edition of Joe's album with organist Larry Young, Love Cry Want.  I designed the album cover to honor the civil rights and anti-war movements of the 1960s and 70s, of which this recording is an expression.
